One of 2017’s great losses was the death of AC/DC’s powerhouse rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young. In memory of the musician, Malcolm Young’s son Ross joined an AC/DC tribute band onstage to play some rock ’n’ roll.

Malcolm Young was forced to depart AC/DC in 2014 after dementia left him unable to perform. Bandmate and brother Angus Young later revealed Malcolm’s symptoms began during the Black Ice cycle, with the guitarist having difficulty remembering his parts. It was also reported that Malcolm battled lung cancer and had been fitted with a pacemaker.

Last month, tribute act Thunderstruck played a set at the Epping Hotel in New South Wales, Australia. After bringing Ross Young up onstage and handing him a mic, the group jammed “The Jack” from AC/DC’s T.N.T. and international High Voltage albums. “It’s always great to have a great tribute band of my Dad’s band,” Ross Young said after finishing the track. “We miss Malcolm, he’s a great person, and you know what? Rock and roll will still live on in each others’ hearts and soul and the balls!”

Thunderstruck followed up Ross’ speech with the classic “Whole Lotta Rosie.” Of course, Ross knew every word like a true superfan would, leaving the small bar crowd cheering, having witnessed a real-life Young jam AC/DC live.
