Troop F of the Maine State Police responded to 47 calls for service involving crashes and cars off the road during the storms this past week. Total calls for service numbered 133.

Incident Type: OAS Date: 12/12/2016 Town: Monticello Trooper: Tr. Kilcollins Brief Synopsis: Tr. Kilcollins issued a criminal summons to a 57-year-old Monticello man for operating after suspension. Tr. Kilcollins had suspected the man had been driving even though he knew his license was suspended. Tr. Kilcollins stopped the man for a minor traffic infraction, confirmed the suspension, and issued him a criminal summons. The man has not held a valid driver’s license in nearly 20 years.

Incident Type: THEFT Date: 12/12/2016 Town: Monticello Trooper: Tr. Kilcollins Brief Synopsis: Tr. Kilcollins investigated and solved a theft in Monticello. A homeowner reported he had rented his furnished house to three adults. When the people never paid the rent he asked them to leave, which they did, but took a variety of his property to include two televisions and a large amount of bedding. Tr. Kilcollins recovered all but one TV and continues to work to get that item back as well. Charges are pending for the people that were supposed to rent the property.

Incident Type: THEFT Date: 12/12/2016 Town: Crystal Trooper: Tr. Saucier Brief Synopsis: Tr. Saucier received a complaint of a theft from a local resident. The resident reported someone had been stealing electricity from an unoccupied home. Tr. Saucier identified a suspect who ultimately admitted to using the power. The complainant decided against prosecution in the case was resolved outside the court system.

Incident Type: ACCIDENT Date: 12/14/2016 Town: Dyer Brook Trooper: Cpl. Quint Brief Synopsis: Cpl. Quint was stopped on Interstate 95, Dyer Brook, with a vehicle that had gone off the road. While the wrecker was getting out that vehicle another truck came along, lost control, and rolled once before coming to rest in the median. The travel lane of the highway was ice and both vehicles were driving too fast for conditions. The two Massachusetts men involved in the roll-over crash did not sustain injuries. While the wrecker was recovering the rolled pickup a car went speeding past Cpl. Quint and the wrecker driver that were working in the left lane. Cpl. Quint relayed the vehicles information to Tr. Kilcollins and he found the vehicle. The driver admitted to seeing the wrecker and not slowing down. He was issued a summons for failing to slow down and/or move over for a stopped emergency vehicle. Cpl. Quint’s cruiser camera recorded the violation.

Incident Type: WARRANT Date: 12/15/2016 Town: Masardis Trooper: Tr. Adams Brief Synopsis: Tr. Adams responded to Masardis for a well-being check on a female. Tr. Adams located the female at home and all was fine but in process he discovered there was a warrant for her arrest. The female was arrested without incident and transported to Aroostook County Jail.

Incident Type: OAS Date: 12/16/2016 Town: Hodgdon Trooper: Tr. Bell Brief Synopsis: Tr. Bell observed a male suspected of having a suspended driver’s license operating a vehicle. The male was stopped, the suspension confirmed, and the male was summoned for operating after suspension-infraction.

Incident Type: ACCIDENT Date: 12/18/2016 Town: Mount Chase Trooper: Cpl. Quint Brief Synopsis: Cpl. Quint investigated a single vehicle crash in Mount Chase. The female driver was driving north on the Shin Pond Road, Mount Chase. There was a large tree that had fallen due to high winds in the area and it was blocking the entire roadway. The driver of Vehicle #1 did not see the tree in the roadway and struck it with the front of her vehicle causing extensive damage. MDOT arrived and removed the tree from the roadway. The vehicle was towed from the scene and will likely be a total loss. The driver complained of pain to her back but refused an ambulance and stated she would seek medical treatment if she felt it was necessary. PHOTOS
