If you've read the biography of the band, 'Hammer of the Gods,' you know that Jimmy Page all be admits that he ripped off other artists music. I'm not sure why this surprises people.

'Babe I'm Gonna Leave You' was originally written by Anne Bredon but Zepp termed it 'traditional, arranged by Jimmy Page.' Throughout the book he suggests that he saw folk artists performing in coffee houses and often was 'influenced' by them. Here's part one of a summary of the band's ripoffs.

 
This latest controversy is from Randy California and his band 'Spirit.' They had a song called 'Taurus' which is basically the intro for 'Stairway to Heaven.' Why it's taken so long for him to get a writing credit on the song is beyond me.

Thoughts? I know Led Zeppelin took songs and made them their own and they are iconic. No argument there. Are they, however, a little too big for their rock and roll britches? Tell us at 764-ROCK or on Facebook.
