In her final tuneup before the NCAA Track & Field Championships, Washburn's Carsyn Koch ran the third fastest time in NCAA Division II history in the 800M event over the weekend at a meet in Illinois.

Koch is a junior at Cedarville University in Ohio. Her time of 2:02.87 over the weekend is the fastest in the nation this spring.

She already owns the fastest ever time in D-II (2:02.39) when she won the national championship in the 800M last spring.

In fact, she owns the first, third, fifth and sixth fastest times ever in D-II.

This year's NCAA championships are in Bradenton, Florida May 25-27 and Koch will be the heavy favorite to win the 800M again.

Koch was a standout runner and basketball player at Washburn High School in Aroostook County.
