Getting dumped sucks.

I don't care where you're from, getting dumped is never any fun. We've all been there. So what if you just decided that was the perfect time to go on vacation and go "find yourself"? Would you go someplace nice and warm, and perhaps the opposite of where you live? Or would go for someplace with an insane nightlife? It's a very personal choice, no doubt. Apparently, a lot of people choose Maine.

At first, I was like, why would someone come here? Then I looked at the #2 state, which was Vermont. And then I was like, wait a minute... Vermont is #2? Are they just guzzling maple syrup and looking at the Green Mountains? Hawaii at #1 makes sense. Go drown your sorrows in a tropical paradise. Unless that's where you're from.

So that's why initially I don't get the idea of coming to Maine. Where would you go?

Again, I could see wanting to escape Maine after a breakup, if you got dumped here. On the other hand, I could see why Maine might be a popular breakup destination. Show up for a week or two, do a bit of very safe, yet fairly anonymous dating, and then zip on outta here. With a little smile on your face to go home and face the real world.

Or, why not just move here? To heck with that former life. My guess is, you'll come here to recover, and realize that place you live in Ohio just sucks. There's a statistic I'd like to see... How many people that visit Maine after they get dumped, and decide to just stay here?
