Four men and three women were involved in the accident. Troopers said alcohol and speed were factors in the wreck, said Stephen McCausland, Public Safety Spokesman. The most seriously injured were the women. Five people were taken to Maine Medical Center in ambulances and a Lifeflight helicopter.

As the investigation continues with interviews, the names are being withheld, said McCausland.

The crash happened near 298 Spec Pond Road about 11:45pm. A 2013 Nissan Altima slammed into a tree after going off the road.

Troopers are looking into where the alcohol was obtained, said McCausland.
