Foo Fighters Earn Six New Platinum Records for Prior Releases
Killer news for rock n' roll titans Foo Fighters, as the band has just etched in six new platinum certifications for some of their past releases. The announcement comes just ahead of their upcoming album Concrete and Gold, which is due to come out this Sept. 15.
The group received the following certifications: 2011 album Wasting Light has gone platinum, achieving gold status back on May 18, 2011. Their single "Learn to Fly" has hit platinum status, 2007 disc Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace earned its platinum certification and its mega single "The Pretender" has gone double platinum. Wrapping things up, singles "Everlong" from The Colour And The Shape and "Best Of You" from In Your Honor have both hit double platinum. Way to go!
Recently, Foo Fighters released a new video for "The Sky Is A Neighborhood," directed by frontman Dave Grohl and starring his kids in the clip. He spoke about the experience in a recent interview, stating, “This video was special to me because I got to direct two of my daughters. They’ve seen me make videos before and they’ve watched the process and always asked, ‘When can we be in the video? When can we be in the video?'”
The lead up to Concrete and Gold has provided a lot of exciting news for the band. They revealed that none other than Paul McCartney would guest on the record, and a yet unnamed pop star would also be joining the fold. Given what we've heard so far leading up to the album, it certainly wouldn't be a stretch to think the album might get a record certification of its own very soon.
