Everyone Loves a Parade. Wanna Be in One?
The University of Maine at Fort Kent and the Greater Fort Kent Area Chamber of Commerce are looking for area businesses, organizations, and individuals interested in placing an entry in the homecoming/scarecrow parade that will take place on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11 a.m.
The parade is among the most popular events of the annual UMFK Homecoming Thursday, September 20 through Sunday, September 23 and the Greater Fort Kent Area Chamber of Commerce Scarecrow Festival held from Friday, September 21 through Saturday, September 22.
Plaques will be awarded in several categories, including the most creative, best musical, best non-profit, best business entry, judges’ choice, best “Scarecrows Olympics” theme entry, and to include a best UMFK entry.
The parade line-up will be at the Fort Kent Courthouse from 10 to 10:45 a.m. At 11 a.m. the parade will wind its way down Market, East Main, West Main, and end up on Pleasant Street, at the UMFK President’s residence (Acadia House).
Parade entry forms are also available at the Greater Fort Kent Area Chamber of Commerce office or by calling the office at (207) 834-5354. Deadline to sign up is Friday, September 14th.
