Woman Dies After Apparent Heroin Overdose in Presque Isle

One person has died and four others remain hospitalized in Presque Isle after apparently overdosing on heroin.

Presque Isle Police Chief Matt Irwin confirms that 34-year-old Katheryn Lewandowski who was among several people who overdosed on Tuesday, has passed away. Five people were transported by Crown Ambulance late Tuesday to the Aroostook Medical Center for emergency treatment.

Chief Irwin said in a social media post Tuesday evening that a bad batch of heroin may have led to the overdoses. The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency is investigating.
