First Look: ‘Star Wars’ Lands Coming to Disney Parks in 2019
This weekend's D23 convention promises to be filled with loads of Disney news, but the Mouse House got things started last night with a virtual tour of its new Star Wars Land.
Though the major park panel at D23 won't happen until Saturday, Disney could hardly contain its excitement in showing off the planned landscape of the new science fiction land coming to Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Star Wars Land has been one of the most anticipated new attractions since it was announced, and fans have been in a fervor for any news from things as simple as the ground-breaking to the sneak peeks at massive AT-ATs being installed. Thanks to this new scale model of the installation, we now have the best idea of what to expect from Star Wars Land to date.
Star Wars Land presents attendees with a whole new planet, which features a remote trading port where most of the interaction will take place. Inside there are two main attractions, one featuring a battle between the First Order and the Resistance, and the other a ride that puts you in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon for a very special secret mission. If I were a betting man, I'd say the over/under on wait times for both of those will exceed 300 minutes for the better part of the first six months. At the very least.
Both the Disneyland and Disney World Star Wars Lands are planned to open in 2019. Be on the lookout for more information from D23 this weekend, as Disney has a host of original reveals, Marvel Studios reveals, and Star Wars announcements to make in the days ahead.
