Corey Taylor Plays Acoustic Rendition of Stone Sour’s ‘Song #3′ on Japanese TV
We're nearing the release of Stone Sour's sixth studio album, Hydrograd. The band has already released three singles, "Fabuless," "Song #3" and "Taipei Person/Allah Tea" and frontman Corey Taylor recently hit the set of Sukkiri!, a Japanese television show, to perform an acoustic version of the emotional "Song #3."
Armed with just an acoustic guitar, Taylor strips down the song to its bare essentials, reworking the song with tremendous effect. The original version is centered around the singer's infectious melodies, making for any easy transference into the acoustic realm. At first, he lightly strums the guitar, maintaining a minimal presence while belting out the impassioned verse. Picking up the energy, Taylor plays a bit more aggressively over the explosive chorus and throughout the rest of the song.
“'Song #3' is actually about a certain kind of love that I don’t think songwriters really talk about. It’s that strong passionate love but also that undying love. That really, really good s–t, you know? Everybody talks about the sappy stuff, everybody talks about the sexy stuff, but there's that middle section where one meets the other and you just never know which way it's going to tip at any given moment," Taylor explained to Loudwire Nights host Toni Gonzalez at Rock on the Range earlier this year.
Pre-orders for Hydrograd (out June 30) can be placed at the band's webstore and look for Stone Sour on the road this summer supporting Korn and making festival appearances.
