Another big blast of winter will hit northern Maine on Christmas Day, dumping up to a foot of heavy snow and gusty winds throughout the day.

The National Weather Service Office in Caribou has issued a Winter Storm Warning from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday for the entire region. Total snowfall will range from 7 to 10 inches, with localized amounts up to 12 inches expected.

The Weather Office warns of difficult travel conditions throughout the day on Monday as winds gusting as high as 30 mph will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow.

This comes on the heels of a storm Saturday that brought 6 to 10 inches of snow to much of Aroostook County.
