Caribou Vikings Win the Boys Class B State Title

It was a thriller as the Caribou Vikings win their first state title in 50 years with a 49-47 double overtime victory against the Cape Elizabeth Capers.

The game was close and back & forth with the two teams going into the 4th quarter tied 32-32.

With just under 15 seconds on the clock in the 4^th quarter, Cape tied it 42-42 with a 3-pointer.

Then came the first overtime with both sides keeping it tight to make it 47-47.

Then double overtime. Knotted at 47-47, it took only 2 points for Caribou to take the championship home to Aroostook County, 49-47.

Caribou’s defense and hustle brought them to the championship with Parker Deprey and Austin Findlen leading the way with Sawyer Deprey, Alex Bouchard, and Isaac Marker.​​

Fans, family & friends from caribou packed the stands in Portland with 5 buses making the trip + one charter. Senator Collins and Governor Janet Mills were on hand for the game too.

The Caribou Vikings came into the Tournament as the No. 2 seed with an 18-3 record. The Cape Elizabeth Capers earned the spot with a 14-7 season. The Vikings advanced to the finals by beating the defending state champs Hermon Hawks in Bangor last week. It is Caribou’s first regional title since 1983.
