The Boston Red Sox' 3 game winning streak came to a crashing halt, as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Red Sox 4-1, in Baltimore on Monday night, May 6th.

The Red Sox were held to just 3 hits. Josh Smith making his 1st appearance for Boston gave up a grand slam to Jonathan Villar in the 2nd inning.

Smith lasted 3.1 innings giving up 5 hits, and the 4 runs. He struck out 3 and walked 2. Heath Hembree pitched .2 innings and then Ryan Weber making his 1st appearance for the Red Sox, recalled when David Price went on the injured reserve list threw 4.0 scoreless innings allowing  3 hits and striking out 4.

The Red Sox are now 17-19 and 6 games behind the 1st place Tampa Bay Rays. The Red Sox will take on the Baltimore Orioles in the 2nd game of the 3 game series on Tuesday, May 7th with the pregame starting at 6:05 and 1st pitch at 7:05 on AM 1370 WDEA in Ellsworth and Bar Harbor area and The Rock 101.9 FM, WOZI in Presque Isle.
