A New Brunswick woman was taken to the hospital after a rollover crash on the Maine Turnpike Tuesday afternoon.

Maine State Police say 74-year-old Joseph Masterson of Polk City, Florida was driving his Winnebago south on the Turnpike in Litchfield around 3 p.m. when the right front tire blew. The vehicle swerved to the left into the median, striking the guardrail. Police say debris from the guardrail and dirt was thrown into the air.

Meanwhile, 52-year-old Pauley Sanipass of Moncton, New Brunswick was traveling south in her 2016 Chevrolet. When the dirt and debris flew into the air, police say she could not see and her car went into the median and rolled over.

Sanipass was transported by ambulance to MaineGeneral Hospital in Augusta with a broken wrist and other injuries and was later released.

Both north and southbound traffic was reduced to one lane at the crash site for about two hours Tuesday. Police say about one hundred feet of guardrail was demolished. No charges are anticipated.
