Former Black Flag bassist C'el Revuelta has passed away after battling stage 4 brain cancer. The musician’s family posted the sad news on the day of Revuelta’s death, May 3.

Revuelta was diagnosed with glioblastoma last summer. More recently, Revuelta’s family set up a GoFundMe page for the bassist once they found out his cancer was growing, forcing him to start a more intense treatment. A benefit concert was also held this April to help with Revuelta’s medical bills.

Before his death, the cancer had taken Revuelta's vision in his left eye and he was no longer able to move his left arm or leg. Last week, it was revealed C'el had lost his appetite and was losing his ability to speak. Revuelta’s family shared the final news on Revuelta's death via a GoFundMe update:

Today we lost a wonderful person, our hearts are broken Cel passed away this morning Wednesday May 3rd 2017, he was surrounded by his immediate family. He fought til his last breath. Forever he is loved and will be missed. Love ❤️ You Uncle Cel!!

Revuelta replaced Black Flag bassist Kira Roessler in 1986, performing on the band’s final tour. C'el returned in 2003 for a trio of Black Flag reunion shows, with just himself and Greg Ginn as the sole members of Black Flag’s final '80s lineup to return. Revuelta's playing can be heard on the Last Show unofficial Black Flag bootleg and the Program: Annihilator compilation. He can also be seen in the Black Flag documentary Reality 86’d.

We’d like to send our condolences to the family of C'el Revuelta during this heartbreaking time.
