The University of Maine basketball teams split with the Hartford Hawks on the hardwood Monday afternoon.  Both home sides took the win with the Black Bears women's side winning 73-62 and the men's dropping with a score of 54-44.

Maine Women's 73-62 Hartford

The Black Bears started off strong with a seven point lead after the first quarter of play.  The Hawks would start to climb back into the contest with a solid second quarter, and trailed by just four at the intermission break.  UMaine would take control in the second half and had a 17 point lead with under three minutes to go.  Blanca Millan lead the way for the Black Bears with 23 points and 9-12 shooting on the afternoon.  Tanesha Sutton also chipped in with 12 points and Laia Sole had 10.  Maine moves to 10-10 on the year and 3-2 in conference play, they face the New Hampshire Wildcats in a road match-up Thursday.

Maine Men's 54-44 Hartford

The Black Bears played a competitive match-up with the Hawks, but came up short when all was said and done by a 10 point differential.  Center Vincent Eze led with 13 points, while Wes Myers had 12.  Hartford was led by Jalen Ross who had 19 total points on fifty percent shooting from the floor.  UMaine will host the UNH Wildcats at the Cross Insurance Center on Thursday evening.
