After sitting out 2 days and working in the batting cages in the hopes of being more "hitterish" Andrew Benintendi returned to the starting lineup Saturday, going 4-6 and just missing hitting a homer for the cycle as the Red Sox beat the Tigers 10-6 in Detroit on July 6th.

The game was delayed 4 hours and 5 minutes but was worth it if you were a Red Sox fan. In addition to Benintendi's single, double and triple, Mookie Betts was also 3-5 with a single, double and triple. All together the Red Sox had 17 hits with Christian Vazquez and Brock Holt each having 2 hits and Marco Hernandez 3 hits.

The Red Sox needed all those hits, as Rick Porcello allowed 6 runs on 9 hits in 5.2 innings. Colten Brewer, Josh Taylor, Matt Barnes, Brandon Workman and Steven Wright combined to hold Detroit scoreless for the rest of the game while allowing 5 hits.

With the Yankee's loss to Tampa Bay, Boston is now an even 10 games behind the 1st place Yankees. Boston and Detroit will play the final game of the 3 game series and last game before the All-Star Break on Sunday afternoon. David Price is scheduled to start for the Red Sox. The pregame will begin at 12:10 and 1st pitch at 1:10. Hear that game and every Red Sox game on AM 1370 WDEA in the Ellsworth and Bar Harbor area and The Rock 101.9 FM, WOZI in Presque Isle
