The University of Maine men’s basketball team will square off against top-seeded Vermont tonight in Burlington for the quarterfinal round of the America East playoffs.

The Black Bears come into the contest with a 3-13 record in America East play, besting Binghamton over the weekend to end the season.  Maine lost its two prior match-ups to the Catamounts, but played a close contest game with Vermont 90-77 in January that saw the Black Bears be within single digits of their opponent in the second half.  The Black Bears freshman forward Andrew Fleming was announced on Monday to be an All-Rookie selection by the league as he is the active leader on the squad in points and rebounds.

Vermont is the first team in America East history to post an undefeated 16-0 record through league play and sport the conference player of the year in Trae Bell-Haynes, and Rookie of the Year in Anthony Lamb.  On the year Vermont has just five losses and own the nation’s longest winning streak in Division I basketball currently.

The Catamounts lead the series history all-time over the Black Bears with a 70-66 record.  Tip-off in the contest is set for 7:00 p.m. from Patrick Gymnasium and can be seen on ESPN3.
