Bathurst Man Dies in UTV-Truck Collision
RMCP say a 22-year-old Bathurst man was killed Saturday evening in a collision between a Utility Terrain Vehicle and a pickup truck in Sormany, N.B.
Police responded to the crash on Sormany Road shortly before 6 p.m., according Sgt. Benoit Jolette of the Northeast District RCMP. Police believe the side-by-side UTV was making a sharp turn in the road when it collided with an on-coming pickup truck.
Nearly a dozen members of the Robertville Fire Department along with Ambulance NB personnel responded to the scene as well.
The driver of the UTV, a 22-year-old man from Bathurst, passed away as a result of his injuries, Sgt. Jolette said. A woman, who was a passenger in the UTV, was transported to hospital and treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Police said the driver of the truck was not injured in the crash.
An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
