A Bath-area man has been sentenced to 45 days in jail after pleading guilty to careless use of a firearm and breaching a probation order.

According to police, on April 1, at approximately 8:30 p.m., members of the Woodstock RCMP responded to a report of shots being fired on Mechanic Street in the village of Bath, N.B.

Three youths and two men were arrested. The three youths were later released. The two men were remanded into custody and appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court on April 4, said the RCMP.

Twenty-two-year-old Cole Paul Smith, of Bath, was charged with careless use of a firearm and breaching the conditions of a probation order. He pleaded guilty to both charges, and was sentenced to 45 days in jail.

Twenty-year-old Christian Charles Graham, also of Bath, was charged with breaching the conditions of a probation order, in connection with an unrelated incident, said police. He was released on a judge’s undertaking with conditions, and will return to court on April 26.
