ACAP Head Start Parent Goes to Augusta
The annual Head Start Goes to Augusta event at the Maine State House was held at the end of March and an ACAP Early Care and Education parent and staffer headed south to participate.
Kelsey Dionne of Madawaska, a Parent Policy Council member, attended this year's event. "Not only did this experience allow me the opportunity to see our state house, meet and interact with legislators, but I had the opportunity to explain the benefits of child development received through Head Start," Dionne says.
Families of children enrolled in Head Start Programs from across the state were invited to tour the State House, meet legislators, learn about the legislative process, observe a legislative session and learn about advocacy.
