Winter is about to make an encore appearance in Aroostook County and western New Brunswick, bringing significant amounts of snow, sleet and freezing rain to the area Tuesday night and Wednesday.

The National Weather Service Office in Caribou has posted a Winter Storm Watch for northern Aroostook, including the Fort Kent and Madawaska areas with the possibility of 7 to 10 inches of accumulation.

Forecasters say central and southern Aroostook could get anywhere from 2 to 7 inches of snow and sleet by the time the wintry blast moves out late Wednesday evening.

Meanwhile, Environment Canada is forecasting snowfall ranging from 12 to 20 centimetres for Carleton, Victoria and Madawaska Counties.
