7 Winter Hacks That Everyone In Northern Maine And Western New Brunswick Should Know
Just when you thought it might be over, Northern Maine and Western New Brunswick are about to get hit with another snow storm. Rather than fight it, embrace it with these 7 winter hacks.
Here are 7 winter hacks to help us all be prepared when the snow starts to fall.
- 1
KITTY LITTER
Having a bag of kitty litter in your trunk is a good idea. You'll find that it comes in pretty handy if you get stuck in the snow and especially if you're driving a vehicle that solely has rear-wheel drive.
- 2
FLOOR MATS
If for some reason you don't have kitty litter in your vehicle, rubber floor mats may help you out instead.
- 3
SOCKS ON THE WIPERS
This is a great hack, especially if you park your vehicle outside. Put socks on the blades of your window wipers to help keep snow and ice off of them. There's nothing worse than going down the road and only part of your windshield is cleared off because a chunk of ice has gotten in the way.
- 4
PARK TO THE EAST
We're aware that temperature has a lot to do with this, but I always try and park to the south or the east to allow the sun to do its job, as best it can in the winter.
- 5
Cling Wrap On The Side Mirrors
This is something that you need to do before the snow and ice fall. However, if this doesn't work for you, you can always put some gallon Ziploc bags over them also.
- 6
Homemade Windshield De-Icer
Simply mix 3 parts vinegar to 1 part water and spray that on your vehicles windshield to help keep ice from forming on them. You may have to sweep the snow off, but there shouldn't be any ice.
- 7
KITCHEN SPATULA OR CREDIT CARD
If your significant other took your scraper and has already gone to work, you might be left hanging without a way to scrape the windshield. A kitchen spatula or credit card may help you out here. You can also refer to hack #6 in the future also.
