If your child was running a fever over the weekend but isn't now, and you plan to send them to school, it may be too early if they attend school in MSAD.

My daughter had flu symptoms over the weekend and we thought she could possibly go back to school today. However, when we called her school, they advised that she stay home and here's why.

According to the office superintendent, the CDC and the County Health Office are requiring the school to ask parents some questions before allowing their child back to school.

When Can Your Child Head Back To School After Having A Fever?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's website, you should keep your child home from school, daycare or camp for at least 24 hours after their fever is gone.
(The fever should be gone without the use of a fever-reducing medicine.) A fever is defined as 100°F (37.8°C) or higher.

If Your Child As Experienced Diarrhea or Vomiting with the Fever, the CDC suggests that you should keep your child home from school, daycare or camp for at least 48 hours after their fever is gone.

If you call your school and tell them that your child has a fever and may be out all day or half of the day, then they may ask you some questions about it, but it's nothing to be alarmed about.

They're just trying to get a count of how many kids in the school district have the flu and what the symptoms are.

Should you have any further questions concerning this, please contact your child's school and they can provide any other information you might want or need.

I hope you and your family stay happy and healthy throughout the year!
