People that have chronic health conditions need good medical care, as well as making healthy decisions and following their physician's advice.

Beginning in January, Cary Medical Center’s Healthy You program will begin offering a FREE 6-week, evidence-based workshop called "Living Well for Better Health."

The workshop is a collaboration between Cary and the Aroostook Agency on Aging. It teaches people with one or more chronic health conditions vital self-management skills to help equip them for a better life.

"Living Well for Better Health" will be offered on Tuesday mornings from 9 to 11:30am at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center for 6 consecutive weeks beginning January 22nd. The workshop is open to adults of all ages who have one or more chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis and others.

During the six two-and-a-half-hour weekly sessions, participants will receive support from trained leaders and other workshop participants, learn practical ways to manage their pain and fatigue, learn about nutrition and exercise options, and learn better ways to communicate about their conditions with doctors and family members.

Preregistration is required. You can register online at healthylivingforme.org or by contacting Bethany Zell at 207-498-1361 or bzell@carymed.org.
