Young Woman Killed Along Interstate 95 After Dark
State police say a young woman has died in a fatal accident along the Maine Turnpike near Falmouth.
The crash on Interstate 95 occurred at about 7:15 p.m. Sunday on the southbound side of the highway near the Portland-Falmouth line.
State police say the woman had pulled her car over into the breakdown lane with a flat tire and was attempting to flag down another vehicle when she was struck by a pickup truck.
Investigators said the woman had no I.D. on her on in her car. State Police have identified the victim as 24-year-old Aeriel Rodriguez of Kittery.
The driver of the pickup truck, 42-year-old Michael Hawk of Lewiston, was not injured.
Both sides of the highway were closed for some time while police and emergency personnel were on the scene. The investigation continues.
