A rollover accident on I-95 in Island Falls Monday sends two to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver and two passengers had to be extricated from the vehicle.

67-year-old Jeffrey Rutter from Jay was trying to pass a tractor trailer when he got caught in the slush in the passing lane of I-95 south, said Sgt. Jeffrey C. Clark, Maine State Police, Troop F.

Rutter tried to correct the wheel, but slush pulled his 2014 Subaru Minivan off the road. The vehicle rolled over more than once and came to rest in some trees, on the passenger's side.

Rutter had two passengers, 75-year-old Juliette Madore, and her daughter, 46-year-old Brenda Madore, both of Van Buren. He was taking them to Scarborough for an appointment. All three were trapped in the vehicle for a short time until they were extricated, said  Sgt. Clark.

The passengers were taken to Houlton Regional Hospital by ambulance for non-life threatening injuries. Rutter was not injured.
