Shortly after 10:00 p.m. Friday, the RCMP responded to a 911 call concerning a snowmobile that had gone off a groomed trail near Route 105, close to the Mactaquac Provincial Park.

When police and paramedics arrived at the site of the crash they found the woman gravely injured. Sgt. Chantal Farrah of RCMP New Brunswick said the woman later died in hospital as a result of her injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates that two people were travelling on the same snowmobile in a wooded area, when the driver lost control in a turn and both riders were thrown from the machine. The driver did not suffer serious injuries.

The victim has been identified as Deborah Marie Marion, of Lower Kingsclear, originally from Bathurst, New Brunswick.

The investigation is continuing.

It was the second fatal snowmobile crash in New Brunswick on Friday. The first, near Sugarloaf Provincial Park, claimed the life of a 49-year-old Campbellton man.
