Woman Dies from Late Night Sleeping Loft Fall at Moosehead Lake

The death of a 54-year-old woman who fell 10-feet from the sleeping loft of her sister's home on Moosehead Lake has been ruled an accident. 

The Somerset County Sheriff's Office says Kendra Donovan, from the Buzzards Bay area of Massachusetts, died early Friday in the home on Spruce Street in Rockwood, which is north of Greenville.

Somerset County Deputy Wilfred Dodge and Detective Jeremy Leal responded after a call reporting a medical emergency was placed just after 5 am on September 2 to the Somerset County Regional Communications Center.  Rockwood Fire and Rescue, Greenville Ambulance, and a LifeFlight helicopter were also sent to the scene. Donovan was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported by Lary Funeral Home of Dover Foxcroft.

Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy James Ross says it appears Donovan got up in the night, may have become disoriented, and tumbled 10 feet to the floor. The loft railing does not cover the entire sleeping area.

The death is not considered suspicious.  Police say drugs or alcohol were not involved.
