This event is free to attend and open for everyone to view the Wintergreen students’ art work, see results from Sip & Paint classes, appreciate a variety of art projects, tour the center, enjoy refreshments, and visit with friends and neighbors.  Other free and fun things to do include a variety of crafts for the kids, temporary tattoos for all ages, face painting, and an origami peace crane folding demonstration.

Wintergreen is also participating in the Central Aroostook Area-Wide Yard Sale that day and will have activity books as well as Mo-Di-Do, the center’s signature play dough, available for sale.  You may also stumble upon a treasure trove of artistic finds as Wintergreen digs into its basement full of 10-years-worth of keepsakes.  Who knows what you’ll find!

We are so excited to be celebrating Wintergreen’s 10th anniversary,” said Kim Guerrette Michaud, co-chair of Wintergreen’s Board of Directors.  “Over the years we’ve grown and evolved.  Wintergreen has touched the lives of so many people through creative experiences, employment, events, and family opportunities.  We are extremely grateful for our volunteers and supporters, and this is also a very special day to thank them for their commitment.”

Heather Harvell, who serves with Michaud as co-chair of the Wintergreen Board, has been with the center in a variety of capacities for nine of its 10 years.  “Wintergreen is truly a success story unto itself,” said Harvell.  “For not only a nonprofit, but for any business in a small town to stay solid and grow for 10 years is amazing.  What we’ve figured out is that we need to see what this community needs from us, and what we need from them.  We’re closer to finding that out, which is why we’re thriving.  We’re an integrated piece of this community.”

On June 4, 2016, just look and listen for the WOW (Wintergreen-On-Wheels) wagon parked outside the center at 149 State Street.  This uniquely decorated and wonderfully worn old TAMC ambulance will have her loud speakers on and music playing to help welcome everyone to Wintergreen’s 10-year anniversary celebration.
