The first significant snowfall of the season in Aroostook County will make for some slippery roads from now to Sunday.

The National Weather Service Office in Caribou has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for northeast Maine from Friday evening until early Sunday morning. Folks between Millinocket and Madawaska could see between 3 and 9 inches of snow through the weekend, with the higher totals in the north.

Temperatures will hover around the freezing mark overnight and inch up a couple of degrees during the day. Forecasters say the snow may mix with rain Saturday afternoon.

This wintry mix will make roadways a bit slick, so if you're traveling over the Thanksgiving weekend, go carefully and allow extra time to get to where you're going.
