What to Expect at Annual ‘St.Matty’s Day’ Benefit

Matthew Turnbull used to work here at the station. He was an intern. Not really, though. He worked with us for a while as a board operator/engineer assistant and he got paid. Once he got done he just kept coming back so we called him an intern. We wouldn't have had it any other way. We were better when he was around. We lost Matt in November of 2012 to a car accident and because he would have wanted it, we've thrown a party ever since.

Matt's family started the 'Matthew Turnbull Living the Dream Scholarship Fund' to benefit a Caribou High School Senior entering the Trades at Northern Maine Community College and a 2nd year Trades student at NMMC. To raise money for the scholarship there is a benefit on Saturday, March 15th at the Caribou Inn & Convention Center in Caribou.

This is not only a fundraiser, but a party to honor Matt's memory. It's fitting that it's thrown every year around St.Patrick's Day because it was Matt's favorite holiday. His band Common Crossing will be doing an Irish-influenced acoustic performance while people view the silent auction items and enjoy light refreshments. From 8-Midnight the band will take the stage and the party will continue.
