The RCMP is investigating deliberate tampering after a train derailed Monday in Sisson Ridge, near Plaster Rock, New Brunswick.

Shortly before 10:45 a.m, on Monday, May 9, police responded to a report that a westbound CN train had gone off the track near the Sisson Ridge railway crossing.

Eight rail cars went off the track, but remained upright and intact. No one was injured. One of the cars was carrying petroleum, but none spilled.

RCMP say the investigation, in collaboration with CN Police, has determined that a deliberate act was done to cause the derailment.
