A vehicular accident yesterday morning in Caribou sent one man to the hospital.

Just before 8:30am yesterday morning the Caribou Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Vaughn and South Main Street in Caribou.

66-year-old Dale Corbin of Caribou, was operating a 2011 Can-Am three wheel-motorcycle southbound on Main Street when he was struck by a 2006 Ford Explorer being operated by 64-year-old Deborah Nichols of Cross Lake. Nichols was going across Main Street to Vaughn Street from the parking lot of the Caribou Superintendent’s Office.

Corbin suffered injuries to his head and chest. He was not wearing a helmet. He was transported to Cary Medical Center by Caribou Fire and Ambulance and later transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center. Mr. Corbin’s condition is unknown at this time.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
