The sixth annual 'Metallica Night' took place at The San Francisco Giants home ballpark AT&T Park last night (Apr. 24), and members of the band were on hand to celebrate.

Drummer Lars Ulrich threw out the first pitch (seen below), bassist Robert Trujillo and guitarist Kirk Hammett helped out with the grounds-keeping (seen below) and the latter performed the "The Star-Spangled Banner," video of which can be viewed above.

The continued partnership between the band and the Bay Area baseball club has become a tradition in Metallica's adopted hometown over the years. During the game, the band took part in various activities between innings, including Hammett playing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" during the 7th inning stretch, a clip of which can be viewed below. Metallica brought the Giants luck, as they defeated the Washington Nationals by a score of 4-2. Fans can also enter to win Hammett's game-played guitar by making a donation to Metallica's All Within My Hands Foundation, with details listed in the tweet below.

There were also special Metallica ticket packages that included a ticket to the game and a limited edition Metallica/Giants baseball cap with a portion of the proceeds from each ticket sold benefiting the All Within My Hands Foundation. A VIP event in Triples Alley celebrated the reissue of The $5.98 EP - Garage Days Re-Revisited where Ulrich and Hammett talked about their early Bay Area days as a garage band.

Metallica's European tour resumes Thursday night (Apr. 26) in Munich, Germany, and continues through mid-May when the band will break for the summer. The tour ramps back up again Sept. 2 in Madison, Wis. to kick-off a portion of the "WorldWired" tour that will spill into 2019, seeing the group hit 34 cities on their second North American leg in support of Hardwired... To Self-Destruct. The full run of dates can be seen here.
