The walk-a-thon will take place at the Mizpah site beginning Sunday at 3:00 p.m. Eastern or 4:00 p.m. Atlantic Time and ending at midnight

Everyone, from all generations, is welcome to take part in this annual event, held to honor and support past and present cancer survivors.

Candles, to commemorate a loved one or to honor and support a cancer survivor, are available for purchase at $5 each.  The highlight of the Mizpah Walk is at dusk, when the luminaries surrounding the pond are lit, casting a glow on the water, and creating a very peaceful and tranquil atmosphere of remembrance.  What an amazing and beautiful site to see when thousands of candles are reflected upon the water!

You may choose to take part in the Mizpah Walk as an individual, or, you may create a team with family members, co-workers, or friends.  Teams may consist of as little as two people or as many members as desired.  A team’s goal is to reach $100 or more, in increments of $5, for each luminary sponsored in memory or support of a loved one.

In addition to the memorial notation on the 20 individual luminaries, each team that reaches the $100 goal will have a metal nameplate, bearing the name of one honored person decided upon by the team, engraved and affixed to the Cancer Survivor Wall.

Whether you live in St. Francis, Hamlin, or Frenchville Maine, or whether you are from Connecticut, Florida, or Washington State, you can participate by taking part in the Mizpah Walk, or you can simply sponsor a luminary or nameplate for the Cancer Survivor Wall by mail; Mizpah P.O. Box 216 Grand Isle, Maine 04746.  Nameplates for benefactors and supporters are also available.
