You have to love how the rock and metal community continues to grow yearly, with new acts making sure to pick up the torch and keep the spirit of hard rocking music alive. We've got a mix of truly new acts and some projects that have evolved from parts of familiar bands that have ensured that the Best New Artist category is populated with acts that have promising futures.

Speaking of those projects who may or may not prefer the terms supergroup, you've got two acts featuring members from Mastodon, with Brent Hinds joining Alice in Chains' William DuVall and Dillinger Escape Plan's Ben Weinman in Giraffe Tongue Orchestra. Meanwhile, Hinds' Mastodon bandmate Troy Sanders fronts Gone Is Gone with Queens of the Stone Age's Troy Van Leeuwen, At the Drive-In's Tony Hajjar and instrumentalist Mike Zarin rounding out the band. Plus, you've got Prophets of Rage featuring three quarters of Rage Against the Machine, playing with Public Enemy's Chuck D and DJ Lord and Cypress Hill's B-Real.

The Best New Artist Category also features up-and-coming rock acts like Kaleo, Through Fire, Stitched Up Heart, Shallow Side and Astronoid alongside harder acts like Eight Bells and Sumerlands.

Now it's time for you to tell us who you think should be Loudwire's Best New Artist in the 6th Annual Loudwire Music Awards. You can vote once per hour in the poll provided below through the deadline of Tuesday, Jan. 10 at 10AM ET.
