Note: In order for a video to be considered for nomination in the 6th Annual Loudwire Music Awards, it had to be released between Oct. 31, 2015, and Oct. 21, 2016. No video which came out after Oct. 21 is eligible for the Best Metal Video in the 6th Annual Loudwire Music Awards, hence the reason you may not see a few major videos among the nominees. Those videos will be considered for nomination in next year’s awards.

Tired of watching a metal band play in some abandoned warehouse where their instruments clearly aren't plugged in? You're not the only one! There's still plenty of bands out there using the age old music video as another vessel in which to interpret their art. All of those stale warehouse videos make us truly grateful for those moments when a band dives in with a full on, overarching narrative or just some high-energy fun!

Both Slayer and Megadeth laid out conceptual, violent music video trilogies in support of their respective albums, Repentless and Dystopia, so it's no surprise to find Slayer's "You Against You" and Megadeth's "Dystopia" among the nominees for Best Metal Video in the 6th Annual Loudwire Music Awards.

While destructive in a different way, Periphery and High on Fire opted for animated music videos. There's plenty of explosions going on in the strange world of Periphery's "Marigold" where cylindrical characters do battle, leaving things quite open for interpretation. If you're tuning in to High on Fire's "The Black Plot," pack your bags because you're going on a trip... a psychedelic trip!

Also among this year's nominees is the Viking battle-themed video for Amon Amarth's "At Dawn's First Light," the richly regal tale behind Anthrax's "Blood Eagle Wings," Ghost's throwback to 1920s horror for "Square Hammer," Korn's unnerving story centered around photography in "Insane," Fleshgod Apocalypse's trying times of monarchistic rule for "Cold as Perfection" and Avenged Sevenfold's outlining of evildoings throughout human history on "The Stage."
