The University of Maine Men's and Women's basketball team held the second annual "Meet The Bears" night at the Cross Insurance Center on Tuesday before the start of the exhibition season this weekend.

Fans of the program joined players on the court for the evening event, which included letting season ticket holders pick their seats and on-court activities for young fans in attendance.

Both Richard Barron and Bob Walsh hosted the evening and also met with the local area media as part of the joint event.  Barron noted that his team is ready to start the season this weekend before getting everything underway in early November, but said that this was the first time some of the incoming players had been on the floor at the CIC.

Walsh said that he will be motivated to prove the America East Coaches' Poll wrong after the team was selected to finish in last place.  He noted that the team has goals to improve with every game and win the conference title.  Walsh also said that his team is coming together in the early parts of camp with the influx on new players.

The men's basketball team will take on Husson University on Saturday afternoon to begin their season, while the women's side will face Stonehill on Sunday.
