UConn’s Nichols Shuts Down Bears 1-0
The UMaine Black Bears peppered UConn goalie Rob Nichols with 44 shots and he stopped all of them. Another tough loss at Alfond Arena, 1-0 to the Huskies.
The Hockey East defeat puts the Black Bears at 2-6-1. Maine's overall record is 5-13-4. The Huskies improve to 4-7-1 and 8-13-1.
UConn's Shawn Pauley scored the game's only goal just over six minutes into the game.
Rob McGovern was the tough luck loser in goal. He stoped 18 of the 19 shots he saw.
Game two of the weekend series is tonight at 7pm.
