A collision involving a car and an SUV in downtown Presque Isle Tuesday morning sent two women to the hospital.

The crash occurred around 10:45 a.m. at the intersection of Main Street and Riverside Drive, according to Corporal Thomas Pearson of the Presque Isle Police Department.  Glenda Berube of Fort Kent was driving south on Main Street in her Toyota Corolla. Lori Davis, also of Fort Kent, was turning left onto Main Street from Riverside Drive in her Mercury Mountaineer and the vehicles collided bumper to bumper.

Berube reported pain in her foot, wrist and left side. Davis, who is expecting, had swelling and pain in her left forearm, Pearson said. Both women were transported by ambulance to The Aroostook Medical Center for treatment.

The two vehicles were heavily damaged and were towed from the scene. Police say no one will be charged in the crash.
