The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency have arrested two men from southern New England  and charged them with selling heroin and crack cocaine throughout Washington County.

Tuesday night, drug agents and deputies searched two homes at 1369 County Rd. in Trescott and 54 Middle Street in Whitneyville, following undercover purchases of heroin and/or crack cocaine from both locations. Evidence of drug trafficking was seized during the search of both of these residences.

Arrested are:

  1. Rafael Santiago- 18, of Brooklyn, CT has been charged with Class B Trafficking in Schedule W drugs (heroin and crack). Bail has been set by a bail commissioner at $1500 cash.
  2. Marco Serrano- 23, of New Bedford, MA has been charged with Class B Trafficking in Schedule W drugs (crack). Bail has been set by a bail commissioner at $1500 cash.

Both were transported to the Washington County Jail and both were expected to make an initial appearance in court later Wednesday.

Sheriff Barry Curtis said, “the end result of this investigation shows what we can accomplish by agencies working together. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is committed to stopping the influx of this poison into our County and we will continue to work with, and support, the efforts of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.”

Also assisting in the investigation were the Pleasant Point Police Department and State Police. This investigation is continuing and more arrests are likely.
