Wednesday evening, a Concord, New Hampshire man and his female companion from Houlton were arrested in Houlton following an investigation into the illegal importation and sale of heroin in Aroostook County.

As part of an on-going effort focused on the importation of heroin into Aroostook County, agents from MDEA’s Aroostook Task Force in Houlton executed a search warrant at around 8 pm Wednesday evening on an apartment located at 65 Court Street in Houlton.

The search warrant was the result of a month-long investigation into the sale of heroin and other drugs from this residence. The case involved the undercover purchase of suspected heroin from this apartment.

During the warrant, agents recovered approximately 90 grams of suspected heroin and several grams of methamphetamine. The suspected street value of the recovered drugs is estimated at $10,000. Other evidence consistent with drug trafficking was also seized.

Charged thus far as a result of this investigation are:

  1. Matthew A. Perry - 31-years-old of Concord, NH, has been charged with (2) counts of unlawful trafficking in schedule W drugs. One of the counts is a Class A, Aggravated charge due to the amount of suspected heroin seized. The other was a Class B offense. At the time of Perry’s arrest,there were (5) outstanding warrants for his arrest. (3) from New Hampshire and (2) out of Maine. Perry was also on probation from the State of New Hampshire for Aggravated Assault. His bail was set at $10,000 cash.
  1. Makayla P. McGuire- 19-years-old of Houlton. McGuire was charged with a single count of Class A, Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs. Her bail was also set at $10, 000 cash.

Both were transported to the Aroostook County Jail for processing.

MDEA was assisted in this investigation by the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office and the Houlton Police Department. This investigation is on-going and more arrests are possible.

This investigation highlights the continuing trend of out of state drug traffickers who are coming to all parts of this state in order to traffic in these highly addictive drugs. The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency stands committed to working with all partners in order to target, infiltrate and arrest individuals who come here in order to distribute drugs.
