August 30 – Trooper Stoutamyer and Trooper Dennis Quint assisted Fort Fairfield PD with the recovery of a vehicle in Mars Hill from a case that Fort Fairfield PD had about 1 month ago. The female suspect who now as a result of the case has an active warrant for her arrest, had fled the scene in this vehicle. Tr. Quint located the vehicle as it was abandoned at a park in Mars Hill. Tr. Stoutamyer followed up on it and arrangements were made for the owner/victim of their case to have the vehicle returned to him. The victim and suspect are husband and wife.

August 31 – Tr. Endre investigated a criminal mischief complaint in Haynesville where a vehicle was damaged, but entry was not gained. The woman’s purse and medication was visible inside. The case remains under investigation.

Sept. 4 – Tr. Saucier investigated the death of a 65-year-old Staceyville man. The man had been suffering from medical conditions and was in poor health. The man lived alone and was found by his neighbor who checks on him daily. Nothing was found to be suspicious during the investigation.

Sept. 4 – Tr. Saucier investigated a theft of cash from a residence in Patten. The case remains under investigation.

Sept. 4 – Tr. Stoutamyer responded to a residence in the town of Chapman to assist paramedics as a 15-year-old male was reported to have drunk some gasoline. When Tr. Stoutamyer arrived he learned he had only attempted to inhale it to get “high.” Paramedics arrived and checked the 15-year-old, and Tr. Stoutamyer cleared the scene. Then about 20 minutes later the male’s mother reported that he had gone outside and may harm himself somehow. Paramedics responded again but the male had run off into the woods and couldn’t be located so Tr. Stoutamyer was asked to respond again. The outside temperature was 47 degrees. After conducting an initial search of the area with no success Tr. Stoutamyer left the property, and waited nearby hoping the male would come out on his own. 5 minutes later he returned home, and paramedics transported him to have him evaluated.

Tr. Hafford attended a week long ERT training exercise in the Augusta area.

Sept. 4 – Tr. Michaud charged a Caribou woman with Operating After Suspension after he pulled her over for not having plate lights. Earlier in the day, Tr. Michaud also cited another operator for Failing to Control a Motor Vehicle after watching her texting while she went by his unmarked cruiser.

Sept. 5 – Tr. Darcy arrested a Patten man on a warrant as the result of a traffic stop in Smyrna.

Sept. 5 – Tr. Levesque and K9 Vitz were called to Linneus to track a suspect wanted related to a domestic violence incident. Tr. Levesque casted Vitz in the suspects last known location and Vitz tracked through a small patch of woods to the neighbor’s house. The neighbor was the suspects relative and all the blinds in the house were closed. An attempt was made to make contact with the owner of the house but they would not come to the door. A short time later a neighbor who lived down the road stopped and stated that the suspect was just seen on a yellow ATV that belonged to the neighbor. Troopers searched for the yellow ATV but were unable to locate it.

The investigation showed there was no evidence of criminal threatening or reckless conduct and a 60-year-old Frenchville man was summonsed for shooting too close to his neighbor’s residence.

Sept. 5 – Troopers Saucier and Endre investigated a family fight in Linneus. The female initially reported an assault on her and her son, but the final version changed and no clear crime was committed. The parties were separated and the case will be submitted for review by the DA.

Sept. 6 – Troopers Saucier and Endre responded to what was reported as an underage drinking party in Haynesville. Approximately 10 vehicles were checked as they were leaving and all but one vehicle had sober drivers and all were believed to be adults. One juvenile was charged with possession of alcohol by consumption. Once the vehicles cleared only people over 21 remained and no one would give names as to who provided the alcohol to those under 21.
