Tractor Trailer Loaded With Potatoes Crashes on I-95
State Police say a tractor trailer loaded with potatoes went off Interstate 95 in Carmel late Tuesday night and hit several trees before ending up in the median.
The crash was reported about 11:30 p.m., according to Maine Public Safety Department spokesman Steve McCausland. The truck driver, 49-year-old Scott Rand of Sherman Mills, was not injured. It's unclear why he lost control.
State Trooper Darren Vittum cited Rand for a log book violation. Damage to the cab of the truck was estimated at $15,000.
The potatoes were being offloaded to another truck on Wednesday and the tractor trailer was expected to be removed later in the afternoon.
