Three of the state's top high school girls soccer programs got together on the pitch today for some exhibition play prepping for the regular season openers next week.

The Bangor Rams hosted the Scarborough Red Storm and the Presque Isle Wildcats as each team got in two games.

When it comes to the Class A ranks, Bangor and Scarborough have been dominate teams over the past eight years. Either the Rams or the Storm have been in the state championship game in six of the last eight years. Three times (2010, 2011, 2012) Bangor and Scarborough met in the title game.

The two programs have played exhibition games most every year. Today was the first time the Red Storm came north for the tune-up game.

The Presque Isle Wildcats won the Class B regional title last season before losing to Yarmouth in the state game. Longtime coach Ralph Michaud says it's hard to get the top teams from southern Maine to come north for tune-up games and jumped at the chance to play the Red Storm.

Bangor coach Joe Johnson has a young team but says 'his Rams should be very competitive along with the Camden Hills of the region'.

The Rams open their season at Lewiston next Saturday, September 1st.

The Red Storm play Falmouth in their opener.

The Wildcats will host Ellsworth in their opener on September 1st.
