State Police say Michelle Labbe, 52, of Eagle Lake was driving a 2011 Dodge Durango north on Route 11 in Nashville Plantation shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday. Labbe lost control of the vehicle on the slush-covered road, crossed the roadway and struck a utility pole, according to Sgt. Josh Haines.

Labbe suffered serious injuries in the crash. Passengers in the SUV were Danielle Leblanc, 55, the owner of the vehicle, and Joseph Davis, 74, both from Fort Kent. Leblanc and Davis also sustained injuries, police said.

All three were transported by Ashland Ambulance to the Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle. Labbe was later transferred to a Bangor Hospital. Her two passengers were released from the hospital.

All three occupants were wearing their seat belts, Sgt. Haines said on Sunday.  Speed was not a factor. The accident remains under investigation.

Maine State Trooper Corey Hafford investigated the crash. Ashland Police and the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.

Michelle Labbe said from the hospital Sunday morning: "I was wearing my seat belt. Going in for surgery on my left knee this morning. Danielle Leblanc and Joseph Davis are home resting. They air flighted me last night from Presque Isle to Bangor. Thank you, Jesus, for keeping your hand on all three of us. Another inch to the right or left and I would not be here."

Slippery roads led to at least three other accidents in Aroostook County on Saturday.
