Southeast District RCMP responded to the crash between a car and a pickup truck shortly before 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of the Homestead Road and Route 112 (the old Fredericton Road).

Police say an 18-year-old woman from Lewis Mountain, a 24-year-old woman from Moncton, and a one-year-old boy, who were occupants of the car died at the scene.

Two other occupants of the car, a 24-year-old man and a three-year-old boy, were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to a press release Tuesday from Sgt. Chantal Ouellette.

The driver of the pickup truck was also taken to hospital, but was later released.

The Coroner and an RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene. The cause of the crash is under investigation. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor, Ouellette said.
