Three men have been charged following an investigation into an attempted theft from a flooded home in Maugerville, N.B.

At around 6:45 a.m.,on May 6,  the West District RCMP with assistance from the Oromocto Fire Department and members from the NB Department of Justice and Public Safety, arrested the three men who were in a canoe. Earlier, police received a report that three men in a canoe had broken into a residence in the flood zone. The owner of the home was inside at the time. The three men left. No one was hurt and nothing was taken.

On May 7, all three men appeared in Burton Provincial Court where they were remanded into custody.

Brandon Hatchard, a 29-year-old man from Perth-Andover, N.B., was charged with break and enter and possession of stolen property. He is scheduled to appear in Burton Provincial Court on May 10, 2018, at 1:15 p.m.

Travis Hunt, a 29-year-old man from Maugerville, N.B., was charged with break and enter and possession of stolen property. He is scheduled to appear in Burton Provincial Court on May 10, 2018 at 9 a.m.

Chance Leslie, a 25-year-old man from Middle Hainesville, N.B., was charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property and breach of probation. He is scheduled to appear in Burton Provincial Court on May 11, 2018 at 11 a.m
